Paektu Cultural Exchange (PCE) is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to facilitating sustainable cooperation, cross-cultural exchanges, activities, trade, and investment between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) and international organizations, businesses, and individuals to promote greater peace, friendship, and understanding.

MAY 20th to 27th 2018 | Business Exploration & International Spring Trade Fair Mission to North Korea (8 Days / 7 Nights)

Join Paektu Cultural Exchange on a comprehensive trade and investment focused fact-finding trip to North Korea which includes factory visits, meetings, interactive workshops, a business to business matchmaking session, lectures and discussions with DPR Korean government officials, local businessmen, and stakeholders. Led by PCE Director, Michael Spavor, this will be a chance to explore DPR Korea’s current economic situation and current investment projects and trade opportunities in Pyongyang and the Wonsan-Kumgangsan Special Economic Zone. We will attend the opening ceremonies of the 21st Annual 2018 Pyongyang International Spring Trade Fair and meet with entrepreneurs who will showcase their “Made in DPRK” products and services. This visit is in cooperation with the Ministry of External Economic Affairs the Wonsan Development Corporation and is an exclusive Paektu Cultural Exchange project with proceeds supporting Project Samjiyon.

JUNE 15th to 19th 2018 | Paektu Tours: The Dragon Boat Festival Tour to Pyongyang & the DMZ, North Korea (5 Days / 4 Nights)

Join Paektu Cultural Exchange for the 2018 Dragon Boat Festival. The 5-day tour begins on June 15th in Dandong City, a Chinese border city which lies across the Yalu River, where participants will have a trip briefing on what to expect while in the DPRK from experienced experts. A train ride through the DPRK countryside will take you to Pyongyang where you will see the grand bronze statues of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jung-Il, followed by dinner with our local hosts and then you will check-in to the Sosan Sports Hotel, after which you will be able to take an evening walk to see the lovely night scenes of Pyongyang including the newly built Mirae Scientists Street. The next day includes a walk from Pyongyang Theater to Kim Il-sung Square and the nearby Foreign Languages Book Shop where you can buy interesting souvenirs, a visit to the International Football School in Ryomyong New Town, shopping at the Miniso Retail Store, boating in the Taedonggang River, and a look inside the Grand People’s Study House before taking a bus to Kaesong. The following day there will be a visit to the DMZ and the Panmunjom Joint Security Area as well as a visit to the Koryo Dynasty Museum. A bus will take you back to Pyongyang so you can be amazed by the talent at the Mangyongdae Children’s Place, shop among locals at the Kwangbok Area Supermarket, and finally enjoy a festival atmosphere at the Kaeson Youth Amusement Park. On the following day, we will visit a cooperative farm to learn about local farming practices, and then cruise around Pyongyang to take in sights such as the Juche Tower, the Pyongyang Metro, the Arch of Triumph, and Kim Il-sung University. To cap off the last night in Pyongyang, we will get some beer at the famous Taedonggang River Beer brewpub. On June 19th, the tour group returns to Dandong, China by train.

JULY 19th to 28th 2018 | MADE IN DPRK: Exploring and Understanding North Korea’s Rural Markets*, Manufacturing, and New Trends in Consumerism ( 5-9 Days)

Paektu Cultural Exchange, in collaboration with its advisors and DPRK government partners, has designed this academic travel program called MADE IN DPRK to explore and understand North Korea’s rural markets, manufacturing, and new trends in consumerism. This program is targeting academics & professionals (but is open to all, except journalists) to experience first-hand, three dynamically different regions of the DPRK (Rason SEZ, North Hamgyong & Pyongyang) as well as China’s quickly developing northeastern Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture.

We will visit factories, shops, and local markets to observe methods of production, manufacturing, distribution, and see trade and joint investments throughout the country. This trip aims, in part, to give visitors a firsthand look at the DPRK’s growing economy and its new consumers through direct observation of business enterprises, site inspections and face-to-face discussions with DPR Koreans, Chinese and other benefactors engaged in various economic activities.

The itinerary also includes participation in the national holiday Victory Day Celebrations on July 27th and the rare chance to see the Military Hardware Exhibition House of the Korean People’s Army, an underground bunker complex and the unique experience of sleeping at a rural coastal home-stay.

AUGUST 2018 | Exploring the Rason SEZ's International Trade Exhibition, Investment Opportunities & Economic Environments (6 Days / 5 Nights)

This trade and investment development mission led by Michael Spavor explores the current economic environment and various business opportunities in NE China and the Rason Special Economic Zone in the DPRK. We will observe and participate in the 8th annual 2018 Rason International Trade Exhibition (RITE) located in the city of Rajin. During this delegation, we will meet with foreign experts, DPR Korean, Chinese and Chinese-Korean business people, government officials, and attend seminars and meetings while experiencing this region’s unique character and charm. We will also enjoy some of the local Chinese, Chinese-Korean and DPR Korean unique cultural features and culinary specialties and learn more about the economics, politics, and history of this diverse region of the world located in what has been called the Tumen Triangle.

DECEMBER 2018 to JANUARY 2019 | New Year's in Pyongyang & Masikryong Ski and Snowboard Delegation (7 Days / 6 Nights)

Join Paektu Cultural Exchange for a unique delegation which will celebrate New Year’s Eve in Kim Il Sung Square and visit Wonsan’s Masikyong Ski Resort for two days of skiing or snowboarding and winter fun.  The New Year’s in Pyongyang & Masikryong Ski and Snowboard Delegation is an opportunity to visit some new sights and attractions, have a great time and relax at a 5-star winter resort. Be the first to see a new anti-American and Japanese aggression and atrocities museum, visit Fujimoto Kenji’s new sushi restaurant and take part in Pyongyang New Year’s Ice Sculpture Festival.
